Leland Child-Lanning

From a very young age, I became captivated by storytelling through video and music, first absorbing and then creating media on my own and with friends and siblings. In high school, I interned at a video production studio and produced an album of original music as a senior independent study project.  Instead of going to college after high school, I moved to Atlanta to work as a recording engineer and music producer. I progressed from intern to a paid employee, eventually managing many aspects of studio sessions, from talent recruitment to creative work, to engineering recording sessions to post-production and finances. After establishing myself in Atlanta and opening a new studio with a colleague, the impact of COVID slowed my work. I decided to pursue a college degree, earning a generous scholarship at the University of Miami Frost School of Music to study media scoring and production with a minor in cinematic arts. Graduating with multiple honors and the outstanding senior 2024 award, my degree allowed me to expand my skills, including composing for various media platforms, writing for and conducting studio orchestras, and working on sound design for film, including Foley performance.
